Name and Title:  Jon Clark, Vice-President, Design Director

Business Name:  RE:find – We also operate two art galleries, ARTHAUS (645 Hamilton Street) and ARTHAUS at the Mezz (Renaissance Hotel)

Business Address:  645 W. Hamilton St., Ste 106, Allentown, PA 18101 (Two City Center)

Social Media: Follow us on Facebook and Instagram @refindallentown

What products do we sell?  Furniture, gifts, and fine art.  We represent some very well-known companies (Simon Pearce Crystal, John Derian Decoupage, Currey & Co. lamps, upholstered furniture) as well as local, regional, and international artists, and many lesser-known, but equally interesting companies, from throughout the world.

Store Vibe:  RE:find is best known for its unique mix of furniture, home accessories, and art.  We have a good eye! The store is put together like we like to live – a mix of old and new, found and inherited, with a healthy dose of whimsy, and very nice artwork, thrown in.

What is your business known for over competitors:  RE:find has items that are not available anywhere else in the Lehigh Valley (or well beyond).

Explain why we’re known for that:  We source products to fit our vision and are honored to have been vetted to work with exclusive companies that recognize our unique approach to home and commercial design.

How did the business get started:  RE:find opened in Easton in June 2013.  It was/is a collaboration between Jon Clark (who previously owned Home & Planet in Bethlehem) and his partner, Ron Susser.

Why did you choose to open in Allentown:  We were actually recruited to open a second shop in Allentown while we were in Easton.  For a while, we operated in both locations, but seeing the growth and potential in Allentown, we decided to both live and work here full-time.

Biggest win:  We have been very fortunate to work with City Center on all of the new apartment buildings, and many of the office buildings, downtown (we furnish the lobby, amenity, coworking, and outdoor spaces).

Biggest Risk:  Like our biggest win, our biggest risk was probably packing up and moving to Allentown.  At the time, the city was just coming back after a difficult period.  Had we not had very good customers follow us to Allentown, new and significant customers seeking us out in Allentown, and larger companies like City Center and Janidl Enterprises support us, the transition here would have been more difficult.

Store goals:  Personally (Jon speaking), I’d like to expand our focus on one-of-a-kind and out-of-the-ordinary items – both old and new — that truly make the store (and therefore, your home) a very special place.  We’re well on the way, and the hunt for items is half the fun (of course, selling the items is the most fun!)

Interesting and Fun Fact:  Ron Susser, RE: find owner and president, worked at Tiffany & Co. in New York for over 17 years.  His eye and knowledge of luxury products, along with Jon Clark’s (RE:find Design Director) years of working at Home & Planet (a store he founded focusing on environmentally sustainable products), has created a one-of-a-kind shopping destination.

Events coming up: Artist Reception at ARTHAUS, “Somnia Terra – An exhibit of images by Denis Aumiller,” Thursday, September, 21, 5:30-7:30 (ARTHAUS, 654 Hamilton St., Allentown)

Offer on Cobu:  10% off any one item for all City Center residents during September. Mention this post to redeem.
