Describe the vibe of your store.
The brand mantra is “seeing the good in all people.” Everyone feels welcome walking in and looking around. There’s plush seating if you’d like to stay and talk or even shoot a game of pool with the owner! You’re immersed in the Good Guy culture through art, music, fragrance, and apparel.

What is the one thing your business is known for, over your competitors?

Good Guy is truly a brand for the people. Every garment is designed by the owner or handpicked. Down to the smallest details throughout the store, there is a thought or moment that everyone can relate to or appreciate.

Explain why you’re known for that.

I’ve always been a people person. I get along with everyone and those relationships have allowed me to grow, as a person and as a brand. I like everyone to feel included so I make sure that Good Guy is accessible and wearable.

How did the business get started?

I won a best-dressed contest in high school and received a $100 prize. I used that money to start Good Guy’s first pieces and kept flipping them into bigger orders. That helped me move from a hand-to-hand business to multiple pop-up opportunities, and finally my storefront.

Why did you choose to open your business in Downtown Allentown?

I’ve lived in Allentown since I was a kid, this is my home base. Hamilton Street has always been known for shopping, and 2 of my pop-up shops were on Hamilton Street. So, it just made sense to become a part of where I grew up shopping, downtown Allentown.

Tell us about the biggest “win” in your business’s history? Explain what it was, how it came about, and what it meant to your business.

The biggest win for me so far has had to be signing my lease. It was a milestone for the brand and myself that I was stepping out of where I was and into who I wanted myself and the brand to become.

What is the biggest risk your business ever took? Explain what it was, what could have happened if it had gone wrong, and the end result of the risk.

Ultimately the biggest win was also the biggest risk. I always had the luxury of selling directly to customers out of the trunk of my car or paying store owners I popped up at based on sales. I wasn’t sure how the business would perform to carry a whole rent & additional expenses.

What are some of your store’s goals for the future?

I want Good Guy to become the best luxury streetwear store in the world – bringing attention to back to Allentown, PA as a textile capital.

Tell us an interesting and fun fact about your business?

When I first applied to City Center for my location I was denied, I gave it a couple of days and came back to ask for a pop-up instead of a permanent lease. I remember seeing the numbers at the end of the first day of the pop-up and I knew I was going to be here to stay!

What events do you have coming up?

Black History Month Capsule is releasing in February, like all my pieces and collections there is a story behind everything, and this one is no different. Double entendres and fun facts people are unaware of are sprinkled in throughout.
